Tutoring with Smarthinking

Available for all enrolled students at College of the Desert

Tutoring and Academic Skills Center (TASC) provides additional tutor support with Smarthinking.  This service can only be accessed through the CoD Canvas portal. Synchronous subjects such as math and statistics are generally available 24/7, while asynchronous topics such as essay assistance are subject to daily schedules.

College of the Desert provides all enrolled students with unlimited access to online tutoring services from Smarthinking. With Smarthinking, students can chat with a live tutor in some subjects up to 24 hours a day from ANY internet connection.

To connect with a Smarthinking tutor online, follow these steps:

1. Go to your Canvas Dashboard Menu
2. Click on Smarthinking Virtual Tutoring

Smarthinking holidays involve closure for the whole day (midnight to midnight) on:

1. New Years Day / January 1st
2. Memorial Day
3. U.S. Independence / July 4th
4. Labor Day
5. Thanksgiving Day
6. Christmas Day
