Mentoring Program
College of the Desert's Early Childhood Education Program works with the McCarthy Family Child Development and Training Center on the COD campus and the California Early Childhood Mentor Program to provide resources and support to aspiring and experienced teachers and administrators in programs serving children birth to five and before- and after-school programs. Through Federal and local funding the Mentor Program offers student teaching lab placement sites for COD students and technical assistance to existing or aspiring early childhood program directors.

It ensures College of the Desert CDE students have opportunities for placements in some of the best quality CDE classrooms and family child care homes in the Coachella Valley.
The CA Early Childhood Mentor Program has a special program to assist teachers and directors in programs serving very young children from birth to three years of age. If you are interested in receiving this type of technical assistance, click on the Mentor Teacher or Mentor Director pages.
CURRENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The COD program will accept applications for Mentor Teachers and Mentor Directors from September through May of each school year and will review the applications once or twice a year to identify qualified candidates. Go to the Mentor Teacher or Mentor Director pages to download an application.
