Student Club

College of the Desert (COD) Future Educators Club

The Mission and Purpose of the COD Future Educators Club is to enhance communication, participation and the opportunity to leverage resources among students, alumni, and faculty.  Additionally, COD Future Educators Club strives to build leaders within in, by collaborating with internal and external agencies that would provide opportunities to volunteer, mentor, and advocate while enhancing the lives of young children and their families living in the Coachella Valley.

All current and prospect members are encouraged to attend to our monthly Video Conferencing Zoom meetings.  All meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month, unless otherwise advised.

Activities

Club Officers and members have been actively engaged in campus and community activities.  As a member, you would be able to continue strengthening this participation by volunteering in some of the following events and/or activities:

  • Club Rush Events at COD
    International Week at COD
    Family Night /Noche Familiar at COD
    Collaboration with the McCarthy Family Child Development & Training Center Activities
    In-Class presentations at COD and local High Schools
    Field Trips to California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB) Campus
    Annual Stan and Carolyn Little Conference 
    Annual Day of the Young event 
    Annual Legislative Breakfast event
    FIND FOOD Bank Distribution (monthly events)
    Support RCOE Migrant Program activities 
    Support local school districts with activities and volunteering work. 
    Support Private Family Child Care Providers 
    Partner with community colleges’ activities
    Support and participate in the annual Job Fair and CDE Graduation/Certificate Award Pre-Party
    Engage in local community agencies’ activities/projects.
