As the peer advocates for the students of College of the Desert, ASCOD strives to promote higher education, a sense of community, diversity, student engagement and act as student liaisons to the COD staff, faculty, and administration. ASCOD exists to ensure that the needs of the students are enhanced and met in order to better serve and help make student's College of the Desert experience a memorable one.
In order for an application, election, or appointment with ASCOD to be considered, a student must meet the following qualifications:
Executive Officers and Student Trustee
A.) Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher
B.) Must be enrolled in at least six (6) units at College of the Desert
C.) Must have completed a minimum of six (6) units at College of the Desert when term
of office commences
D.) Shall maintain and pass at least six (6) college units per semester at College
of the Desert during the Fall and Spring semesters
E.) Must be available to attend ASCOD Student Senate meetings every Monday from 2pm-4pm
F.) Term of office shall be (1) full academic year
G.) Must serve on at least (3) ASCOD and COD Standing/Academic committees
Independent Senators
A.) Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 at COD, or must have a GPA of 2.0 at
a previously attended institution
B.) Must be enrolled in at least six (6) units at College of the Desert
C.) Shall maintain and pass at least six (6) college units per semester at College
of the Desert during the Fall and Spring semesters
D.) Must be available to attend ASCOD Student Senate meetings every Monday from 2pm-4pm
E.) Term of office shall be (1) full academic year
F.) Must serve on at least (3) ASCOD and COD Standing/Academic committees
Applications will go live at 9am.
Applications will close at 5pm. Eligible candidates will be notified by email.
Eligible candidates must attend the ASCOD Student Senate meeting (in-person, or zoom); 2pm in the Office of Student Life.
Eligible candidates may begin campaigning for their position.
Online voting for the ASCOD 2026-2027 elections will open. All currently enrolled students may cast a vote.
