The Construction Technology Framing Carpentry Certificate of Completion provides students with the understanding of framing systems and the practical framing techniques used to construct the floor, walls, and roof of a simple structure. Topics include the fundamentals of wood lumber, fasteners, adhesives, layout, assembly, bracing, sheathing and truss identification. In addition to learning vocabulary and techniques of construction, students participate in a practical lab or actual project site under close supervision of trade professionals.
Students completing this certificate may seek an entry level career in the construction industry; pursue additional training in Site Preparation and Layout, Electrical Construction Technology, Plumbing Construction Technology, Concrete and Masonry, and Exterior Finishes. Students may also apply for credit by exam to transfer into a credit certificate or degree in Construction Management, Building and Energy Systems Professional, or Architecture/Drafting.
