Marks Art Center Hosts Veteran Art

College of the Desert is proud to announce “A Veterans Exhibition” running now through Sept. 26, 2018, at the Marks Art Center.

A free artists’ reception open to the public will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5. Light refreshments will be provided. Conversations with the artists begin at 5:15 p.m. Musical entertainment will be provided by COD Ballet Folklorico Club SPainting by a Veteranabor a mi Tierra.

Paintings, drawings, photographs, sculpture, textile,
three-dimensional works in metal, glass and installation
art are on display, featuring work by U.S. military veterans Michael Aschenbrenner (Army); Bianca Caiati (Air Force); Albert DeVito (Marine Corps); Thomas Gronowski
(Air Force); Gil Hayes (Marine Corps); Gilbert Hayes, Sr. (Marine Corps); Rick Jorgensen (Marine Corps); John Martinez (Army/Marine Corps); Phyllis Miller (Navy); Citalmina Xóchítl Ríos (Marine Corps); Bruce Romjue (Navy); WM Marquez (Army); and SHOE Schuster (Navy).

Painting by a VeteranThe Marks Art Center, along with Donni Prince from College of the Desert’s Veterans Services, helped to solicit the Southern California veteran artists included in the exhibition.

The Walter N. Marks Center for the Arts (MAC) is a nonprofit facility that supports arts education and enriches the cultural life of our students, faculty and community. The center is
at 43500 Monterey Ave., Palm Desert. The gallery hours are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and by appointment.
