The Great California ShakeOut 2017
While the "Big One" will strike without warning, the Great ShakeOut earthquake drill at College of the Desert will occur at 10:19 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19. Students, faculty and staff will participate in the roughly 20-minute drill to help prepare for actual quakes.
Each year, more than 25 million people participate in Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drills worldwide, in K-12 schools, colleges, businesses, government agencies, other organizations, and households. Participants practice "Drop, Cover, and Hold On." It could save your life or prevent injuries.
Palm Desert Campus' emergency assembly areas are the Amphitheatre and Boone Field (football field).
Indio Campus' emergency assembly area is between the parking lot and Towne Street.
Mecca-Thermal Campus' emergency assembly area is in the east area of the parking lot.
