Spring 2015 - Update Strategic Master Plan

Groundwork meeting / discussion with President and key administrative team
Groundwork meeting /discussion with President's Cabinet
Introduction / presentation /discussion / of strategic master plan process
Collaboration with college research and district institutional effectiveness personnel
to prepare presentation for on-campus "town halls"
Establish future meeting times and dates, agenda and attendees
Review internal and external information and data from: 2013 College of the Desert "Fact Book" webpage including demographics, K-12 growth (three K-12 districts districts with 10 high schools), graduate rates, current labor market trends and wages, regional planning documents (Coachella Valley Economic Report), 320 Reports (WSCH), and the technology plan. The existing information will be synthesized into a single presentation to be utilized during the "town hall" meetings. Data elements will be shown to provide a comprehensive analysis of trends impacting the future direction of the District. MAAs will collaborate with the college to develop the presentation and will attend the town hall meetings.
The following meetings will be conducted with college constituency groups. The anticipated goal of these meetings is to present the above listed data, gather input and to discuss the process and objectives of the Strategic Master Plan. MAAS will serve as a support to the college during the meetings. MAAS will record the feedback and emerging themes obtained during each "town hall" meeting. The meetings will be videotaped and hard copies of the presentation will be available The following meetings will be conducted with college constituency groups. Meetings will also be held at off-site locations to gather input and discuss the process and objectives. These meetings will provide the opportunity to reach out to individuals who are not located on the main campus as well as those within the community.

Brief summary of the historical information relative to the District and its past, present and future planning efforts. Inclusion of the Ten Year Planning Calendar.
The data utilized during the "town hall" meetings will be presented through charts, graphs and narrative.
Information obtained during the on-site meetings will be summarized and themes which emerge as part of the process will be identified.
Based upon the data gathered, and feedback obtained throughout the above process, priorities and goals will be established for the District's SMP. These priorities, goals and initiatives will be the foundation for the direction and development of the Educational Master Plan. The SMP will be vetted with the college stakeholders in June with an anticipated adoption in August.
