ASCOD Elections

ASCOD Applications Available!

As the peer advocates for the students of College of the Desert, we strive to promote higher education, a sense of community, diversity, student involvement and act as your liaison to the faculty, administration and state. We exist to ensure that the needs of the students, both social and educational, are enhanced and met. Our purpose is to serve our fellow students, as well as making their College of the Desert Experience, a memorable one.

All candidates and applicants will have their eligibility confirmed as part of the process. To be eligible, the following criteria must be met:

  • Must be a currently enrolled student carrying at least six units at College of the Desert
  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of six units the previous semester
  • Executive Officers must have at least a 2.5 GPA, both cumulatively and for the current term
  • Student Senators must have at least a 2.0 GPA, both cumulatively and for the current term


  • The primary duty of all student leaders is to serve as the voice for the students of College of the Desert and participating in shared governance. This can include but is not limited to outreach, advocacy, attending meetings, open forums, sending out regular updates, etc. Student leaders set their own goals and create the plan for achieving those goals.


    • Serve on three college-wide committees or standing committees each semester
    • Attend one College of the Desert Board of Trustee meeting each semester
    • Submit Progress Reports for all classes at least two (2) times per semester to the Director of Student Life for review and recommendations.

Being an ASCOD student leader is extremely rewarding. It is a great way to develop professionally but only if members are willing to commit their time and energy to their role!
