Mission

The mission of College of the Desert's Dreamer Resource Center is to improve student success and help to successfully transition AB 540 student into college. The center provides academic advising, counseling, and referrals to student service programs in a welcoming environment where Dreamers can connect with campus and community resources.

Undocumented Student Action Week 2020 

at College of the Desert


Serving the largest population of undocumented students in the state, CA Community Colleges are committed to serving ALL students, regardless of immigration status. Join us for #UndocumentedStudentActionWeek, as we advocate and provide support and resources for our undocumented student population at College of the Desert.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 19, 10AM – 11:30AM​

Webinar Watch Party and Discussion: Successfully Paying for College as an Undocumented Student in CA​

Worried about how to pay for college? Don’t miss out on the financial aid and scholarships available for undocumented students in California. We’ll share important tips for students who are undocumented or come from a mixed status family. Ensure you receive all of the financial aid for which you are eligible. The COD Financial Aid office will be part of the discussion to answer general questions you may have.

Hear the success stories from COD alumni, who with the support of COD and despite their status, continue furthering their education and fulfilling their dreams.

Webinar Watch Party and Discussion: Undocu-Leadership Opportunities: Setting Yourself up for Success by Building Community & Professional Skills β€‹

Hear directly from Community College undocumented and mixed status students as they discuss the advantages of joining a club on campus and how to find a mentor to support you  achieve your professional goals. Followed with a discussion with student leaders from Alas Con Futuro, your AB540 student club at COD.

Get your UndocuHustle on! β€‹

UndocuHustle Learning Hub is an e-learning hub for anyone, regardless of immigration status, to learn about income generation through entrepreneurship. Join us as we navigate this resource and share additional information to support your entrepreneurial journey!

 

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 22, 3:00PM – 4:30PM

Hope, Resiliency and Recovery: Suicide is Preventable β€‹

Join us and learn about suicide prevention and free available resources. Presented by Danza Azteca Citlaltonac & Riverside University Health System. Participants will be part of a trivia game and opportunity drawing for five $20 gift cards.

UndocuAlly Training​

This training is designed for Staff, Faculty and Administrators to expand their knowledge on how to be an ally to undocumented students.

Alas Con Futuro

Alas Con Futuro is a student club at COD. The mission of Alas is to facilitate information on educational opportunities and financial resources for undocumented students. Alas provides presentations throughout the Coachella Valley for AB 540 and first-generation students.
