What is Liberal Arts?
The Liberal Arts A.A. Degree is designed for students who wish a broad knowledge of liberal arts and sciences plus additional coursework in an “Area of Emphasis.” This area of emphasis would be an ideal choice for students planning on transferring to the California State University or University of California as the student can satisfy their general education requirements, plus focus on transferable course work that relates to majors at CSU or UC. Please consult with a counselor for specific information regarding your intended major at the specific colleges/university of your choice.

Career options include work in schools, businesses, county, newspapers, city and many more.

The Career Center has software programs, and Internet resources to help you research  information about Liberal Arts careers, as well as other career fields.

How can I get experience working in the Liberal Arts field before I complete my certificate or degree?
College of the Desert offers internship or cooperative work experience for college credit.  Visit the Cooperative Work Experience Education Office.  Located in Business Building 1K or call Michelle Richards at (760) 862-1344.

I am looking for a job. Are there any resources on campus to help me find a job?
The Career Center can assist you in preparing to apply for a job on or off campus.  The Career Counselors also assist you with interviewing, preparation of a resume and cover letter.
