Courtney Doussett, Head Coach
Courtney Doussett will enter her first season as the cross country coach at College of the Desert ready to motivate and lead the Roadrunners when they hit the courses in the fall of 2011. Coach Doussett has
been with COD since 2010 as a Physical Education and Health Sciences adjunct instructor and will bring her wealth of experience, knowledge, passion, and commitment to student excellence to the field of
As the captain of her unit's run team, Coach Doussett distinguished herself throughout her years in the U.S. Army by helping set numerous records and winning the Post Championships 5 consecutive years. She is an accomplished athlete and has competed in everything from 5 k races to
marathons and triathlons.
Coach Doussett graduated with honors from California State University San Bernardino in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Kinesiology. She added a master's degree in Kinesiology from California Baptist
University in 2010 and is an avid member of the American College of Sports Medicine.
Although born and raised in Arizona, Coach Doussett is happy to now call the desert her home and currently resides in White Water with her husband and their two sons.
Luz Rios, Assistant Coach
Luz Rios will come to College of the Desert in the fall of 2011 in her first season as an assistant cross country coach. A native of Coachella Valley, she graduated from Cathedral City High School with the class of 2006. Throughout her years at CCHS, she participated in Color Guard and trained with both the Cross Country and Long Distance Track teams.
Coach Luz has demonstrated an ability to maintain a high standard of commitment and professionalism working as a Supervisor at Clark's Nutrition and Natural Foods Market. She is currently a student at COD working towards a degree in Early Childhood Education. When asked about her upcoming role she exclaimed, "Fitness is still a huge part of my life and I love working with people. So what better than to work with our College of the Desert Cross Country Team! I am honored to have this opportunity as your Assistant Coach and anticipate nothing less than an amazing season!"
April Wilterding, Assistant Coach
April Wilterding is looking forward to beginning her first year as an assistant cross country coach at College of the Desert in the Fall of 2011. While she was born in Anchorage, Alaska, she has
lived in the Coachella Valley area for 25 years. She graduated in 2002 from Palm Springs High School. In 2004, she graduated from Joe Blasco Professional Special Effects Makeup.
Coach April has demonstrated effective leadership and communication skills working as an Assistant Manager for Clark's Nutrition and Natural Foods Market for the past six years. When asked what
drives her the most, she replied, "I would say my willingness to serve, my strong sense of community, and my commitment to helping those in need in whatever capacity I can."
Coach April's interests include spending quality time with her husband of five years and their two beautiful little girls.
