Friends of the Earth Celebrate Cesar Chavez

Walk the Walk with the United Farm Workers of America (UFW) and College of the Desert (COD) Friends of the Earth on Saturday, March 23, 2013.

Fifty years ago, Cesar Chavez came to the Coachella Valley to organize farmworkers. He created a new union to fight for fair pay and safe working conditions. This year marks 20 years since his passing and the influence he had on the Coachella Valley. Guests include:  UFW President Arturo Rodriguez, State Assemblyman Manuel Perez, City of Coachella Mayor Eduardo Garcia, and U.S. Congressman Dr. Raul Ruiz.  

The walk begins at 1:30 p.m. in the Coachella Plaza Shopping Center, Ave. 50 and Ave. De Platina, Coachella, located in front of the Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut.
