“FUN-ancial Literacy Week” Planned at COD
In recognition of National Financial Literacy Month, College of the Desert (COD) is hosting a “FUN-ancial Literacy Week” for its students April 16 to 19.
The series of workshops and events kicks off at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 16 at the Craven’s Student Services Center (CSSC) Multi-Purpose Room. The event features student organizations such as Ballet Folklorico, World Beat Club, food, financial literacy games, raffles, and informational booths from community presenters. This initiative is sponsored by the Title V HSI Individual Grant and the focus is on teaching students basic financial literacy tools they can carry with them throughout their life. Topics for the workshops include, but are not limited to: Banking Basics, College Couponing, Healthy Meals on a Dime, Matched Savings Programs, Identity Theft Protection, Credit Maintenance, and Creating an Emergency Fund.
