COD Street Fair and KMIR Team Up,

Raise Funds for Philippine Typhoon Disaster Relief Fund

The College of the Desert Alumni Association has teamed up with Manny the Movie Guy and NBC KMIR 6 TV to launch a Philippine Typhoon Disaster Relief Fund Drive. The funds will go to St. Joseph Orphanage & Center for the Handicapped in the Philippines.
The home village of Aida Scott, one of the merchants at the COD Alumni Association Street Fair, was wiped out by the typhoon in November. She grew up in Barbaza, Antique, and still has many relatives in the village. Scott said, “90% of the houses and buildings were destroyed.” 
Donations will be accepted at the Street Fair Information Booth the relief fund.
“We are asking for donations from our merchants and customers to help the less fortunate  
Philippine people in their time of need,” stated Gene Marchu, executive director, Alumni Association.
Donations will be accepted at the Information Booth through the end of January.
