COD’s PaCE Offering Emergency Medical Responder Course


College of the Desert is offering a course for emergency medical responders (EMR) through its Partnership and Community Education (PaCE) program. Classes are held Dec. 17 to Jan. 8.

A mandatory information session is Monday, December 16 at 6 p.m.; classes begin Tuesday, December 17. Classes are held in the Public Safety Academy, Room 18 on the Palm Desert campus. See below for class dates and times.

The course prepares participants to provide emergency pre-hospital assessment and care for patients of all ages with a variety of medical conditions and traumatic injuries. Areas of study include an introduction to emergency medical services systems, roles and responsibilities of EMRs, anatomy and physiology, medical emergencies, trauma, and special considerations for working in the pre-hospital setting.

Register online at The course cost is $475, including textbook, supplies and lab fee. A payment plan is available and arrangements must be made through the PaCE Office at the Westfield Mall.  

The PaCE Offices are located on the lower level, under the food court of the Westfield Mall, 72840 Highway 111, Palm Desert.
