COD Wins Best Overall Production at the Desert Star Awards

College of the Desert’s production of 'A Little Night Music' staged at the McCallum Theatre in May 2013, won for the Best Overall Production at the Desert Star Awards held last weekend.

Cast members, directors, and choreographers in College of the Desert’s theater arts program are among the winners of the Desert Theatre League Desert Star Awards. This is the sixth year in a row that COD shows have won awards.

Other awards presented to the College were all for 'A Little Night Music' in the Musical/Opera/Pageant category, Outstanding Director-Professional Sha Newman; Outstanding Musical Director Darlene Romano; Outstanding Choreographer Sha Newman; Outstanding Supporting Actor Paul MacKey; and the Bill Groves Award for Outstanding Juvenile Taryn Murphy. 

COD was nominated for 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest' in the Drama category for production, director, lead actor, lead actress and supporting actor. 'The Vagina Monologues' was nominated for director, lead actress and supporting actress in a Comedy. COD’s One Acts were also nominated for production, lead actor, lead actress and supporting performer. 'A Little Night Music' also received a nomination for outstanding light design, props and special effects and sound design.
