The College of the Desert Dramatic Arts Company rings in the holiday season with the hilarious, side-splitting, yuletide romp A Tuna Christmas by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard.

It's Christmas in the third smallest town in Texas. Local radio station celebrities Thurston Wheelis and Arles Struvie are set to report on various holiday activities, including the highly competitive annual lawn display contest. In other news, voracious Joe Bob Lipsey's production of "A Christmas Carol" is jeopardized by unpaid electric bills and the wide array of colorful Tuna denizens are being terrorized by the infamous Christmas Phantom. A Tuna Christmas is a quick-paced, laugh-a minute holiday riot, as two actors portray the entire cast of over twenty eccentric characters of both genders and various ages.

The Dramatic Arts Company production features two of the desert’s most recognized award-winning comedic performers, Lou Galvan and Tres Dean. In a first at COD, all of the design elements (scenic, props, costumes, lighting, and sound) will be designed strictly by students.

“It is a unique, exciting, extremely challenging production to be involved in,” says director Noemi Villela Dean. “Not only are the students being given the opportunity to run and design the show, they are also being given the opportunity to learn from two professional and highly talented performers.”

The student production team includes Fareed Salahuddin, Anthony Gomez, Steven Armstrong, Kailey Osgood, Chris Hoggatt, Addison Gonzalez, Miranda Hane, and June Mihalich.
