“Which Education, What Career” Educational Fair

The Girlfriend Factor is holding its second annual educational/career fair “Which Education, What Career” on the campus of College of the Desert (COD). The Girlfriend Factor is a local non-profit scholarship organization. The free event will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013, 5:00-7:00pm, on COD’s Palm Desert campus in the Cravens Student Services Center multi-purpose room.

For those considering a career change or advancement, this is a great opportunity to ask questions about specific local careers and find the local educational options to prepare for those careers. Representatives from various careers will be in attendance to share information about their chosen profession. Also present will be representatives from various educational organizations who offer academic programs that lead to those careers. Financial aid and scholarship information will be available.

About The Girlfriend Factor
The Girlfriend Factor (GFF) is a non-profit organization whose primary mission is to provide educational grants to adult women so they may return to school to become self-sufficient. Their first educational grant was disbursed in February of 2007. To date, the organization has awarded over $240,000 to 90 women returning to school. One of the unique aspects of Girlfriend Factor support is that once an applicant qualifies for a grant from GFF, she can continue to receive financial support until her career goals are met, as long as she continues to make satisfactory progress toward her goal. The scholarship money that The Girlfriend Factor raises comes from annual dues paid by members, fundraisers, and donations. GFF has over 300 members who enjoy social activities that develop relationships among women and engage them in community involvement.
