The Desert Sun's Andrew John reported on April 1, 2014, COD nose guard Tyler Roberts signed with Nicholls State.
Here is the article:
College of the Desert faced six of the top 10 junior college football teams last fall, and the exposure continues to be fruitful for the Roadrunners.
On Monday, nose guard Tyler Roberts, a 2012 Palm Desert High School graudate, signed a letter of intent to play for Nicholls State (La.) this season. He follows linemen Humberto Lopez and Nick Johnson, who signed with Nevada-Reno and Northern Arizona, respectively, in December.
The 6-foot-1, 310-pound Roberts expects to compete for a starting spot this fall on a defensive line that has been predicated on rushing the passer in recent years. He'll have two years of eligibility remaining.
"It's a great opportunity," said Roberts, who has been known to push
a 1,280-pound sled with his leg strength. "The coahcing staff, the talent they have coming in, it's exciting."
