Planning Process Next Steps
For those who wrote Intent to Apply forms and their supervisors, here is the easiest way to complete planning proposals:
- Open the Intent to Apply form(s) that you wrote.
- Open the "2009-10 Planning Proposal" form above. Copy the name of the form "Planning Proposal for 2009—10" out of the Planning Proposal form and paste it into the your Intent to Apply form to replace "Intent to apply". (Note: Aside from the name of the forms, the Planning Proposal and Intent to Apply forms are identical. It is easier to change the name of the Intent to Apply forms, than to start from scratch with the Planning Proposal forms.)
- Change the boxes that are grayed out on the forms to "No Fill", and respond to those boxes. All boxes in the planning proposal forms should have some response in them, if only NA for Not Applicable. (To do "No Fill", right click in any grayed out box. Click on "Borders and Shading", choose the "Shading" tab, and open the drop box for "Fill". Click on "No Fill" or "No Color".)
- You may also make revisions to the portions of the Intent to Apply form that you had already filled out to make them stronger or clearer.
- The filled out form must be limited to two pages, but you may add one additional page of data and other supporting information for your application.
- Email the finished proposal to your dean or supervisor by the appropriate due dates. (See below.)
Suggestions:
- For all portions of the proposal (including sections already filled out) the College Planning Council advises that you write as if to someone from the general public. Do not assume that members of the Council are familiar with your program. This will help you to explain your ideas clearly and completely.
- Consider possible revisions to the "College Goals/Action Strategies" and the "Area Needs and Priorities" as these are important for the award of points (see Point System below). If your proposal addresses more than one college goal, you may identify them. However, the Council will be reading these sections critically.
- Of the new areas to be filled out, pay particular attention to the "Justification" and "Assessment" portions. Use the former to outline any program review requirements, statistical and logical reasoning behind your proposal. Remember that you may add a separate page of supporting data. You will be held accountable for completing the assessment you define.
- Pay particular attention to the definitions for "Legal or Accreditation Mandates" and "campus safety".
Revised Timeline:
Due to the cancelling of Intersession and the likelihood that many who are writing proposals will not be on campus, the College Planning Council has pushed due dates for proposals back.

FEBRUARY 27 - Plans Due
