Carl Chiarenza, whose extraordinary career as a photographer, writer, and teacher now spans five decades. His photographs, luminous, dark, coruscated with deep shadows, and alive with the play of light, are challenging and abstract, studies of blacks and whites in the ancient and honorable tradition of chiaroscuro. His photographs have been seen in 78 one-person and over 240 group exhibitions since 1957. His work is in over 35 museum collections in the United States, France, and Japan. Opening reception will be held on Wednesday 2/23/11, 5-7 p.m. free and open to the public. Musical entertainment will be perormed by Dr. Vanessa Sheldon.
